Fund Boosted by £25,000!

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council has contributed £25,000 to the Southend Emergency Fund to support local third sector organisations working with those most affected by the COVID-19 crisis.

Southend Emergency Fund now stands at a grand total of £60,690.72

Alan Kirkman, chair of the Southend Emergency Fund said, “We warmly welcome the support of Southend-on-Sea Borough Council, joining our grassroots coalition of individuals, charities, community organisations and businesses working to address real needs in our community arising from COVID-19. If you haven’t yet, now is the time to donate”

The cash grants are making a life-changing difference to struggling people across the town. Hungry people have food, isolated people have support and those most at risk are being projected.

Councillor Ian Gilbert, leader of the council, commented, “Contributing £25,000 to the Southend Emergency Fund will build on community capacity and social entrepreneurship and support the local charities and projects helping people across Southend-on-Sea.
